Australian Youth Volleyball Championships

Volleyball Queensland’s junior indoor volleyball teams participate annually in the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships (AYVC), Australia’s premier tournament for junior athletes. A state-based competition, VQ is proud of its success at this tournament, defending the title since 2015.

2021 AYVC

Date: 25 – 30 September 2021
: Bendigo Stadium, VIC
Divisions: U14 / U15 / U16 / U17 / U18
Membership: All athletes must be current, Full members of VQ at the time of competition.

  1. AYVC 2021 was cancelled due to Covid and squads will be entered into alternative tournaments.
  2. The next training will be on Saturday 11th September for all age-groups.
  3. On Saturday 11th Sep – The U14s and U15s will be at The Gap between 2pm and 6:30pm, while U16s, U17s and U18s will be at Redlands College between 2pm and 8pm.
  4. U14, U15 & U16s will be competing in State Championships, while U17s and U18s will be competing in Country Championships.

Monday 20th September – Injury Prevention & Strength Workshop (zoom)

  • 7:00pm – 8:00pm – U14, U15, U16
  • 8:00pm – 9:00pm – U17 & U18

Notes: This session will be presented by Kieran Ivers, who is a Physiotherapist often involved in our State Team programs. As a current Senior Pirates team player he is an expert in injury prevention related to high performance volleyball and the bets ways to maintain a strength and conditioning regime. The session will be interactive and will require cameras on and active engagement.

Monday 27th September – Sports Psychology Workshop (zoom)

  • 7:00pm – 7:45pm – U14, U15, U16
  • 8:00pm – 8:45pm – U17 & U18

Notes: This session will be presented by Bailey Opie and Tama Barry, who are provisional Psychologists specialised in Sports Psychology. The session will include topics such as: dealing with pressure on important points, dealing with team mates, dealing with questionable referee calls, resettle after defeat, dealing with making errors, dealing with different personalities, supporting the team, etc. The session will be interactive and will require cameras on and active engagement.

Players who accept their place in the travelling squad or as a shadow player will be required to pay Training Fee 2. You will be able to pay this fee by completing the online forms below.

Training commitments and fees for regional athletes and AVA athletes are different. Regional athletes have received a separate Training Fee 2 form via email and AVA athletes are not required to pay for Training Fees (only the Competition Levy).
