After many years of leadership and dedicated service, Gary O’Donnell has advised the Board of his decision to resign from the position of Volleyball Queensland General Manager, effective Friday 4 July 2025.
As our volleyball community will undoubtedly agree, Gary’s contributions to the sport of volleyball and to our organisation have been exceptional. His leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment were instrumental in guiding VQ through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to shape the resilient and forward-looking organisation we are today. He departs leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire and influence our path for years to come.
While Gary has been in the position since late 2019, his career has been quite unique having led the organisation on two other occasions as the General Manager and the State Coaching Director. In total Gary has guided this organisation for some 23 years.
On behalf of the Board, the leadership team, and the entire volleyball family, I extend our heartfelt thanks to Gary for his dedication, passion, and lasting impact on our sport. We wish him every success in the next stage of his career knowing he will no doubt find his way in and around a volleyball court in his spare time.
