In just six years Beach Schools Cup has outgrown Suttons Beach Redcliffe. Thanks to the support from all involved, the number of teams participating has doubled in the last 2 years, so that in 2018, 161 teams played across 21 courts!
To allow for future growth of this wonderful event, Volleyball Queensland have had to look at alternative venues. With the support of the VQ Schools Sub-Committee, the VQ Beach Volleyball Committee, and the VQ Board, we have identified Coolangatta Beach as being the biggest and best option.
Coolangatta Beach has all the things that we love about Suttons Beach; park adjacent to the beach, somewhere to swim after a game, easy access to shops and parking, but also provides the beach space to grow the tournament (we have calculated up to 72 International size courts would fit on the beach!). There is also beautiful soft white sand and plenty of accommodation options if teams and their families wanted to make a weekend of it.
So the home of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball will now be the home of the VQ Beach Schools Cup !
