Volleyball Queensland is calling for nominations for the VQ Board, Distinguished Service Award & Life Membership to be ratified at our 2026 Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 9 May 2026 at Eatons Hill Hotel. We invite our community to nominate outstanding individuals for Board positions and prestigious awards recognising exceptional contribution to volleyball in Queensland.
All nominations must be received by 5:00pm AEST, Thursday, 9 April 2026
Board of Management Positions
Two positions are available on the VQ Board of Management for three-year terms concluding in 2029.
We are seeking individuals with expertise in:
- Governance, strategy, or risk management
- Finance, legal, or business management
- Marketing, communications, or stakeholder engagement
- Participation, development, or high-performance sport
- Diversity, inclusion, and community development
Previous experience serving on a not-for-profit or sporting board is highly regarded but not essential. Board members must be adults, hold (or be willing to obtain) a Queensland Working with Children Check Blue Card, and be members of Volleyball Queensland.
Nomination Requirements:
- Completed nomination form signed by the candidate and two committee members of a VQ Affiliate
- Supporting letter/testimonial (1 page maximum)
- Volleyball CV (1 page maximum)

Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service Award recognises individuals who have made a significant contribution to volleyball in Queensland across an extended period, whether as a coach, referee, administrator, or representative player.
Nomination Requirements:
- Completed nomination form
- Supporting letter/testimonial (1 page maximum)
- Volleyball CV (1 page maximum)

Life Membership
Life Membership is VQ’s highest honour, awarded to individuals who have demonstrated a minimum of 15 years of significant contribution to volleyball in Queensland through sustained and high-quality service.
Criteria includes:
- Sustained coaching at any level
- Representative coaching (state or national level)
- Club administration involvement
- Sustained involvement as a referee or official
- Volunteering and administration support for VQ (not as an employee)
- Player participation at state or national level for 15 years (supported by contribution in at least one other criteria)
