Each year Volleyball Queensland hosts its Future Stars camp, an invitation-only development opportunity for young aspiring volleyball athletes.
This year, the camp was held over 16-17 November to tie in with the Queensland Pirates match against the Canberra Heat at Nissan Arena. This provided a great opportunity for a number of our Queensland Pirates players to provide support and inspiration during the camp – something which the participants thoroughly enjoyed!
Despite being an invitation-only event, with athletes scouted at Volleyball Queensland’s series of Schools Cup tournaments throughout the year, it continues to expand each year, a sign of continued growth from younger athletes. This year’s camp was no exception with 199 athletes and 21 coaching staff in attendance.
Todd Kropp, Volleyball Queensland’s Pathways Coordinator, said:
“Future Stars camp continues to be a great success year after year and this year, thanks to the support of the Queensland Pirates, athletes not only further developed their volleyball skills but did so with the help of some of Queensland’s most talented volleyball players.
“The Volleyball Queensland staff and coaching team would like to thank the athletes, parents and support staff who delivered such a wonderful camp, and look forward to following the Future Stars athletes on their journey to becoming the next generation of Queensland volleyball representatives.”
