The VQ State Championships lived up to the hype and expectations with the event becoming one of VQ’s most successful events for 2018.
On 25-26 August, Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre hosted VQ’s most prestigious event with 77 teams competing across the ten men’s, women’s and junior divisions. This provided a busy weekend with 222 matches played across 15 courts.
David Kelly, VQ’s Tournament Director, was impressed with the attendance at this year’s titles saying, “Thanks one and all for a fantastic State Championships. Teams came from all over QLD, from as far north as Townsville and as far south as Sydney. We had 14 additional teams enter from 2017, which was excellent to see and we are thankful for your participation.”
Dave went on to thank those who were involved in making the event such a success adding, “The championships was long, fun, and well executed. I would personally like to thank everyone who assisted at the tournament including the event staff behind the scenes, those doing duty, and especially all those who took to the court and enjoyed the weekend. I look forward to seeing you all come back next year and doing it all over again”.
Congratulations to BVC Bears for winning this year’s President Shield and a special mention to The University of Queensland for their outstanding results, boasting Men’s & Women’s Championship Winners, Women’s Division 2 Winners, and fourth place in Men’s Division 1.
Volleyball Queensland would like to thank Dave and his team for an outstanding championship as well congratulating all athletes and supporters on a captivating weekend of volleyball.
