The last round of Grand Prix Volleyball (GPV) was held from 28-29 July on the Sunshine Coast, with Titans taking the title in both the Men’s and Women’s leagues.
The second year of GPV took us across the southern half of the State for 3 exciting rounds of quality volleyball. This year, teams were hosted by Downlands College, Gympie Showgrounds and Matthew Flinders Anglican College. Titans men’s finished the competition undefeated and on 72 points, while the Titans women’s team also topped the table with 11 wins, 1 loss and 69 points. Kiall Rudder from Gladstone and Steph Bowie from Cairns (pictured) took out this year’s MVP’s respectively.
David Kelly, GPV Tournament Director, was appreciative of all the participating clubs and players for their involvement this year. “A big thank you to all involved for making the Grand Prix 2018 a success. A special mention to the invitational teams (Gympie Women and Ipswich Men) for participating upon request and to Dragons for stepping out of those rounds to allow them to play and experience the competition.” David continued “I would also like to express our gratitude to the venue personnel, who were very accommodating in managing the facilities across the weekends.”
Volleyball Queensland would like to thank David Kelly, Chris Kelly (Chief Referee), and the VQ Staff who assisted in putting together another great season of GPV. We look forward to seeing all clubs return and welcome any new teams to the league next season.
